Exploring Shah Alam Botanic Garden, Laman Seni 7 & SS2 Murni Restaurant

It's Raya, people! For that, I would like to wish all my Muslim friends and readers a Selamat Hari Raya! Today's ramblings is on my recent visit to the Shah Alam Botanic Garden the art back street, Laman Seni 7. While my friends and I were there for a walk, I also took some opportunity to snap some photos for my couple friends. Thought I should at least utilize my baby (my new, second hand DSLR) LOL

We were checking out the little pony when out of nowhere, a hog ran out and past us. Gave us quite a shock. Kinda scary because hogs are capable of inflicting serious injuries even death if they feel threathened. Thankfully, this one just ran away. When we took the same route later, we found the same hog eating the pony's food

We didn't go further because it was getting dark and we were tired from all the walking! The furthest point is a 3.5km walk from the animal park and while we really want to explore more. We were there during the fasting month so the services in the parks such as the buggy services are unavailable.

I love parks so would definitely recommend this place to y'all. It's a great place for families and there are a lot of things to explore for a mere fee of RM3 per person! There are replicas of traditional tree houses, pretty gazebos, an animal park, a lotus pond and so forth. I strongly think this Botanic Garden should also be promoted as a sightseeing spot for tourists! The only problem is getting there may be a problem without any public transportation and it can get really pricey (approximately RM30, might be higher on peak hours) to Uber/Grab all the way to Shah Alam unless you're in a group.

Our next stop is Laman Seni 7, just about 10 minutes drive away. Our initial plan was to go to iCity too, since it has been years since I was last there and my Indonesian friends have never been there. However, the iCity's site is so confusing we didn't know if the entrance fees are for one person or a group! When I was there years ago, I only needed to pay the group entrance-cum-car park fees.

We didn't stay long because the sun has set. Before we left, I took the opportunity to try snapping photos with my LED string lights ala Brandon Woefle. Took me a few trials before I got the hang of it. Here is one of my favorite pic (⌒o⌒)

~~

For dinner, we decided to head back to PJ to have our dinner at SS2 Murni Restaurant, a mamak famous for its fusion, modern menu and generous portion of meals.

My mee raja tomyam.

My friend's mee raja biasa.

Mee goreng mamak served with chicken maryland and fries.

Add on roti cheese.

Butter chicken rice served with fries and keropok.

Celebrating Homies' Birthday at Uncle Don's

Went for a mini birthday celebration at Uncle Don's yesterday because the birthday dude wanted to try the place. So off we went~!

Selfie with my DSLR while waiting for the other pals to arrive. Gahh I will need a wider lend!

Since it has been a while since I last drank, decided to order the Red wine sangria. Mojito's still my personal favorite, the red wine is strong for my liking.

Mah mains _German Pork Chop with mushroom sauce.

Pal's pork burger and aglio olio pasta (I supposed).

Spicy pork pizza for sharing, yum! Apparently the Chef's Pizza is highly recommended too.

All the other drinks, so colorful!

At the end of our meals, suddenly staffs of Uncle Don started singing "Happy Birthday" super loudly, it turned out our friend has managed to get the birthday dude a cake after all. Nobody was expecting it so you have to say this is one successful birthday surprise WTH. I wasn't even ready with my camera! Thankfully, I managed to get some great shots.

This is my slice of cake for the night. I don't know how my spoon got underneath the cake, it was hilarious! Oh and the strawberry? I called it discriminatory strawberry because my gal pal who was distributing the cake be like, "Strawberry's for girls, boys take blueberries!" laugh die us.

balik kampung food post & masak masak with homies

Hello peeps! Adter my last post, I ended up with a week of bone ache, I felt like an old lady! Thankfully, I'm much better and it feels gpod being the healthy me again *sniff the refreshing air after rain*

While recuperating from dengue, I headed back to my hometown with my parents. Thought I should share some of the meals I had LOL. For one, I'm already missing the food (and fam lah) because now that I am back in KL, I don't dine in restaurants or have chuu char as often as when I am with my family. Sucks, I know. Malaysians know what I mean. As for my international readers, here are a look into what Malaysians Chinese typically have for our meals.

Parents brought me to their favorite new place which even I came to love! The food are so fresh and most importantly, well cooked they're so yummy!!!

Three flavors fish, so spicy it was so good!

Salted egg chicken, something mom recommended.

Seaweed soup

One of my family's favorite makan rendezvous is in Penang, because we are Penangites mah. Heading to Penang mainland don't take us half an hour while it's about 40-45 minutes to the island. This restaurant overlook Penang Island and famous landmark, Komtar and the bridge.

Chilli crabs~! OMG, I'm missing these already!

Sambal kangkung and steam fish

Just to share a funny story, I took this photo and sent it to a group, "Can you guys spot Komtar?"

One responded with this pic, "I'm waving at you now! Can you see my hand??🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋".

Another responded with a photo of a bush and a caption, "Can you see me 🤣".

I went WTF LAUGHDIEME!!! then texted a reply "Wah ur camouflage is first class"

~♡~

On the way back to KL, we dropped by a kopitiam in Kampar, Perak for lunch. This is yet another of my family's favorite. Since the family restaurant is based in the little town in Perak state, they serve generous size of dishes. These are meals for three, can you imagine?

Steamed egg with salted eggs and century eggs (Eggception!) and stir fry frogs, yum!

Stir fry potato leaves

So those are where we ate. Of course, aside from that, mom stuffed me with tons of home-cooked dishes, (plenty of soup ranging from ABC (a.k.a. potatoes soup), herbal soup, black beans soup and even water chestnut soup, yum!) which I super missed! All the chap fan in KL can't compare to home cooked goodness. Indeed, mom is still the best cook in the world!

~♡~

Just last weekend, homies and I decided to make a simple celebration because another has just gotten back from Indonesia and because I got discharged lol. We made spicy black vinegar pork with hard boiled eggs, chives omelette, stir fry broccoli and snow peas and spicy teriyaki mackerals. Super filling!

Hope I didn't make you hungry LOL!

Merchant's Lane Cafe, Petaling Street

Welcome back to my blog~~! Thought I should document what I was what I was up to last Sunday. Finally had the opportunity to check out Merchant's Lane café in Petaling Street and checking it off my Want-To-Go places lol.

The Mistress burger~ Three of us had the same order LOL

~ ♡ ~

Got myself a Canon 70D, which I bought from Mudah. My! My friend, Ben is an advocate for the purchase of second hand cameras. You can find good quality mirrorless and DSLR cameras available. The downside _ they get sold out real fast! I got third time lucky, two of the initial sellers I had reached out to have sold their cameras. Thankfully, it didn't take long before another got posted on the site.

Tadaaa~~.My new baby!

I have tested on the camera last weekend and so far loving it to bits! The dials are still in a good condition and it looks brand new for a 4-year old camera. Best of all, I didn't pay full price ehehehe

Which brings me to why we were at Merchant's Lane café _ I volunteered to snap photos for my friends to test out my camera and to prove my amazing photography skills hahahaa. Damn vain. Gotta edit them soon :))

Mitasu Japanese Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur

Happy Weekend!! Can you believe it's March already?! Just a little while ago, it was just Chinese New Year!

Anyways, my friends and I had post-CNY lunch just yesterday which got postponed many times because it is so tough to make plans with so many people. Finally, only four can make it. Already quit and achievement I'd say. This time, we hung out at Mitasu Japanese Restaurant, located at Standard Chartered building along Jalan Sultan Ismail and accessible via Connections Pavillion.

Tips: If you are planning to dine here for their buffet, don't forget to make reservations especially on the weekend! I eyeballed their reservation list and it was quite a long one! Thankfully for my gal pal Sharon who made us a reservation instead of going ahead with my "just walk inlah" suggestion lol

Check out their glorious bowl of fresh oysters and prawns. You can have as many of oysters, yo! My friends had three bowls WTF.

For starters we had tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, half-grilled salmon, chukka idako and jellyfish. All of which we didn't have any photos because we were busy digging into the food *smacks face*

I did managed to snap my favourite pumpkin tempura when we ordered our second servings of this. Would have definitely ordered more but we wanted to try the other variety of dishes! We also ordered hotate (scallops) and takoyaki (photo on the left, from top left) then deep fried hotate, teppanyaki squids and edamame which came in a generous serving (top to bottom, right side)!

Next were the chawanmushis and grilled saba (mackerel).

Followed by butter fish and grilled lamb.Yea, the food just kept coming!

We ordered our greens upon recommendations of one of the staff and buddy _ smoked duck salad topped with roes, pickled Japanese cucumber, scallop salad and okras tempura.

I had to stop after all these. My friends went ahead with half-grilled salmon and rotate nigiri sushi and cheese baked mussels.

For desserts, we (or rather I) had tons of konnyaku jellies together with black sesame and chocolate ice creams. These are two of their top flavors for ice cream so when Ben opted for vanilla, protests ensued hahahahaha. He got his vanilla ice cream anyhow.

*Burp*

While all the food are tempting, make sure not to not bite off more than you can chew! Mitasu charges for every 100g of food wastage, so be warned! Optionally, instead of going to the buffet, you want to consider ala carte options.

Ending this post with an #OOTD shot
