Post CNY & Valentine's Day

Hello people~!

I know it’s been a month since I last blogged (>.< ) Been in festive mood and then not in festive mood because my holidays got cut short because I had to get back to KL to work. After that I’ve been on lazy mode because it has been my work peak season while on weekends I have been doing my social catch ups with my buddies plus shopping (I’ve been shopping like crazy!)

Anyway, I know it’s a tad too late but I do hope everyone had an amazing Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day!

Myself, CNY was awesome (before it was cut short because P1 Internet was not working at home. Brilliant!) and my family had our first CNY 8-Course meal! No, it is not our family culture for CNY bu this year we were expecting special guests. Dad was like, since you children are paying, we (mom) eat for free and laughed cheekily. Us siblings went harharhar. Purse was bleeding wth ( ≧∇≦ )

So here are photos of our 8-course meals (Missing the dessert tho).

After that we went around Penang Island to show out guests our favorite rendezvous.

Not a trip is complete without trying the Assam Laksa. A lot of shops were still close for CNY so we settled for the one in Balik Pulau.

Also ordered nutmeg juice, a specialty in Penang.

Freshly juiced, yo!

On CNY eve, mom cooked a bunch of food like every other years. Ate all the yummy food before I got shipped back. It really was too bad I didn't get to stay long enough for steamboat (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑)

On CNY~

and ginger longan tea which I'm so hooked!

On another day we went to Gurney Drive for tea time. Had a bunch of stuff including pasembor, Muar Chee, rojak, ikan bakar and two bottles of lychee with soy milk curd.

then temple visiting at night~

As of now, I’m also occupied planning my 2017 Cuti Cuti Asia trip (That’s what happened when you’re the planner among your friends)!

When it comes to travel, this year I'm expecting a lot of firsts!! First time visiting Kuching, Bali, Bangkok and Australia. And of course, first time flying to so many places in a year! I’m thinking about learning basic Indonesian language which won’t be much issue, I hope, since it’s quite similar to Bahasa Malaysia then attend local cooking classes in Kuching and Bali and learn how to surf (those are the plans as of now) ! I find myself needing to get out there and learn new skills now that I stopped going to Japanese classes *sad*

Unfortunately, because of all this Cuti Cuti Asia plan, I had to postphone Japan trip _ AGAIN _ for many reasons. One already planning to visit countries around Asia and another having made a promise to meet up with my long time friend in Australia this year. On the bright, fun-est and best-est parts are I get to travel to meet my dear longtime friend and with BFF in my other Asian countries adventure!

Life is AWESOME!!!

In case you’re thinking why the fuck I can afford to go to this many places, am I filthy rich? I wish but not just yet, this time I’m going on a super tight budget with this many places on my list. Thankfully, the places I’m going are rather affordable and I managed to find an awesome flight promo! Comment below if you want me to tell y’all my secret to be able to travel to all these places!

2016 Mid-Autumn Festivals' Mooncakes

Happy celebrating Hari Raya Korban and Mid-Autumn Festival, people!

As some of you already know, the Mid-Autumn or Lantern Festival is one of my favorite festivals of the year! And speaking of lantern festival, Mooncakes are a must have! This year I bought quite a number of mooncakes to try, mainly from Purple Cane and Tai Thong!

Purple Cane's Mooncakes

I got the Rose Tea Bamboo Charcoal Lotus Paste & White Tea Purple Potato Lotus Paste ones! They tasted really sweet but super good! Really love these!! Recommended to try, people!

Divided this mooncake into 12 pieces to share with my colleagues. I only had one tiny piece LOL.

I also got these three traditional mooncakes in the shape of Takoyakis. The packaging is so cute, though if I'm not mistaken Purple Cane's packaging is the same every year.

I thought they all tasted pretty normal and blend except the Green Tea one. The skin is thicker than the past too so that explains.

Tai Thong's Mooncake

I have actually been wanting to try Tai Thong because the flavors look interesting so I got myself the Snow Skin Yam Paste Single Yolk, Snow Skin Black Sesame & Green Beans with Cheese and Sesame Paste Lotus Yolk.

I tries a slice of the Snow Skin Black Sesame & Green Beans with Cheese and started having this coughing frenzy. I didn't like it at all, the Green Bean with Cheese is a total failure and no, I totally didn't enjoy the snow skin yuckkk *thumbs down*

After that I was a bit hesitant to try the other snow skin yam one so I cut a tiny piece to try, definitely don't wanna give myself anoter bad surprise. Thankfully, this didn't taste as awful, the yam paste tasted mild and credit to the salted yolk too. Still don't like the snow skin, though.

The traditional lotus paste one tasted the most normal, not too sweet so I'm guessing our older generation would appreciate it.

Went shopping for these after hanging out with my friends at PJ, took this video too. Just look at all the mooncakes!! So tempted to get more!

That's it for today~~ See you guys again in my next post!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

Wishing you all a joyful and prosperous new year!

Happy CNY~!

Went back to home sweet home last Wednesday for CNY and had the most relaxing time. It was just for 4 days but can you believe it if I say it's the longest I've been at home ever since I started working?!! By Sunday morning, I'm already back to KL since I followed sis back even though I took a day off today. This is also the longest break I've taken fml (=__= )

Work + study life *sigh* I really ought to take more breaks and spend time with family more often. Need to make this part of my 2015 resolutions!

Took the train home and got this photo on the way back~ I'm sorta obsessed with looking at the colors of sky especially when the sun is setting or rising #simplethings

Sunrise at CNY Eve 2015

Got back home and mom just kept feeding us wth. I think I gained weight already crap (ï¼´▽ï¼´) Time to brush off the dust from my running shoes...

Here are some of the stuff we had for meals at home. For cny eve, we had roasted duck and pork, soup, Hokkien jiu hu char (fried vegetables with dried squid, a must every year) and curry chicken. Day 1 since we went out, we sorta tapau-ed. Forgot to take photo, my bad.

For day 2, we have more veges, vege soup, chicken and curry fish head~

CNY Day 2 Meals

Non-stop feast even on day 3 wth. Mom prepared steamboat since we were expecting visitors.

We don't usually do steamboat so YAYYY (((*°▽°*)å…«(*°▽°*)))

CNY Day 3 Steamboat

A lot right? This didn't include the fish, prawns or greens yet. We were like, "how to finish?!", but thankfully our guests can eat hahahah. Btw, took this photo while standing on a stool LOL

The exciting part of steamboat, waiting for the soup to boil (≧◡≦)

Happy Mid Autumn!!

The mid autumn festival is here and there're lantern festivals everywhere!! Gahhh! I want to play with 'tanglung' too but nobody to accompany:(  I saw a couple of cute Rilakkuma-designed paper lanterns on sale in Tesco. So tempted to get them!

This year I got the chance to try so many different mooncakes. After my last mooncake 'adventure'(see my previous mooncakes post), mom bought some more. This time, they're the mini mooncakes in red bean and my favorite durian flavor. They're about 1/4 of the large mooncakes and are very much cheaper, only RM1 per mooncake! But that's cuz they don't have any yolk in the middle lah~

mini, homemade durian & red bean mooncakes

Then dad got some more from his friend as a gift early this week, so err... more mooncakes?

Da box~ Simple oni~~

The content_super colorful, fruit jelly mooncakes~!

so, very colorful~!!♡

dragon fruit flavored mooncake~

They've even made it such that it has a center of a different color to replace the salted yolk. Awesomeness~!

pandan and red bean flavor!

This one got a pretty color combination though I didn't quite get what flavor is this...

errrr....maybe lychee flavor?

And that didn't end there. Sis came bek over the weekend and brought moarrrrr mooncakes from Bakers' Cottage

(*v*/) MOARRRRR!!

Spent the weekend celebrating mah belated birthday with parents and sis. Just a small family affair ♥ Here's mah cake. Nothing too fancy but nice enuf. At least I got my cakeyy (^v^/)

hepi birthday to me. and to the other older half.

Dad and sis were singing an unsynchronous Happy Birthday song and I shamelessly sing along, replacing the 'you' with a 'me'. Or rather a super loud, endless 'MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~'. Soprano fail.

hepi birthdayy to us~~

Too bad the older twin wasn't home to celebrate so I posted up the pic on his fb page with a note "make a wish". LOLOL. He wants to celebrate our 23rd birthday next year with "candles on an okonomiyaki". Wutdafuq.
